Benjamin G. Badeau
Born and raised in Vermont Benjamin has a deeply rooted passion for all things natural. The sound of birds chirping, wind rustling the tree leaves, the sound of water splashing down a creek. Moving forward some time, Benjamin obtained a Bachelor in Architecture degree with a minor in Studio Arts, and began pursuing a career in construction management in New York City, NY. Benjamin found himself on the opposite end of the spectrum living amongst skyscrapers in one of the fastest moving cities in the world.
Art in many forms has always been a large part of Benjamin’s life. Recently settling in Charleston, a city with an excellent mix of art and tech, nature and city, calmness and excitement, he has an ongoing desire to study these dichotomies through art. His recent works divulge the relationships between color and space, rough and smooth, textural makeups perceived on a microscopic scale, or something the size of a galaxy. ‘Nature’ exists all along the spectrum of light, color, shape, size, and how it moves and flows is all seemingly interconnected and similar.
Painting in liquid form harnesses the nature of the material and allows it to move fluidly along the canvas and interact with itself and take on its own personality. Undesirable results often result in beautiful opportunities and a chance for something fresh. Allowing unpredictability to breed appearance and style is what makes the pursuit worthwhile and fulfilling. Color selection and density are what allows it to thrive.
